The Blood Moon Eclipse

Between approximately 9pm July 16th and 2am July 17th (Australian eastern time) in the year 2000 the Moon passed into the Earth's shadow became what is known as a "Blood Moon".

Unfortunately the camera used to capture these images didn't have the range to capture the subtle beauty of the "Blood Moon" phase of the eclipse. During this period the Moon, bathed only in light scattered through Earths atmosphere, took on a rusty reddish tone and was high overhead this observer on what was a crystal clear winters night.

Provided below are a series of images of the Moon moving into eclipse, as taken with a Sony Mavica MVC-FD91.
